Durango, CO: A former Durango Police Department officer was arrested Monday by the Loveland, CO, police department under suspicion of sexually assaulting a child in Larimer County.
Dylan Miller resigned from the Durango Police Department in May 2022 to work for the Loveland Police Department after working for Durango for 1 year and 8 months. Loveland police said a minor contacted their office and reported inappropriate sexual contact during the late summer of 2023. Miller was placed on administrative leave Oct. 27 after an investigation by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Human Services, and District Attorney’s Office.
A judge from the 8th Judicial District issued the arrest warrant for four felony and two misdemeanor offenses including kidnapping, sex assault on a child in a position of trust, unlawful sexual conduct by a peace officer, sex assault, official misconduct and official oppression.
During Miller’s tenure with the Durango Police Department no concerns were brought to city regarding this type of illegal behavior.
“These actions are intolerable, particularly when allegedly committed by a former police officer,” said Durango Police Chief Bob Brammer. “Even if only a fraction of the allegations are proven to be true, it is a grave matter that tarnishes the reputation of our profession and any prior affiliation to the Durango Police Department. Our profession is built on trust, integrity, and the commitment to protect and serve our community. When one of our own deviates from these principles and preys on the vulnerable, it is a betrayal not only to the individuals involved but to the entire policing community. I want to emphasize that this incident does not reflect the values and dedication of the dedicated officers of the Durango Police Department, and it is our collective responsibility to continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.”
