Durango's community survey results are now available

DowntownNS

Durango, CO: The results from the City of Durango's 2023 Community Survey were presented to Council on Tuesday, and give a comprehensive look at Durango’s strengths, areas of improvement, and residents’ priorities. The results show that residents appreciate Durango’s natural environment and recreational opportunities but show some concerns about general affordability and their own economic outlook. national survey peramiters

The survey was conducted in the summer of 2023 through direct mailings to 3,000 households in city limits, and through an online URL available to the public. The response rate was 26%, which was high, and a margin of error of 4%. The results were weighted to reflect the city’s demographic characteristics and included comparisons to similarly sized communities. Durango can compare the data collected with more than 600 other communities around the nation.

"Durango has never established benchmarks on how residents perceive the overall livability of our city," said City Manager José Madrigal. "This survey will be conducted every two years to help gauge our progress on the services and programs we offer."

Some highlights include Durango residents saying that the city has strong community support for the arts, excellent multimodal and transit services, great quality of parks and recreation services.
