Durango's SeeClickFix app sees over 400 citizen requests in first 8 months

Durango, CO: The City of Durango has received 412 requests through its public reporting tool SeeClickFix since the service launched last January, allowing staff to help address everything from abandon vehicles to submitting a public comment.

The top request for assistance filed by residents was unsanctioned camping, with 115 requests. Following that was, other with 63 request, abandoned vehicle with 40 requests, Potholes with 34 requests, and Snow Removal with 27.

Unsanctioned camping, other, and abandoned vehicles, the city’s top three request categories, have an average time to acknowledge of less than a day. Those average response times can be attributed to diligence of Code Enforcement Officer Steve Barkley and his team.

The city added this app in January 2023. The portal allows anyone to report quality-of-life issues around town and request city services. Residents can interact with city staff through the free SeeClickFix mobile app or web tool, by providing staff with pictures, specific locations, and descriptions of things around the city that need fixing.

“SeeClickFix, along with our expansion of public outreach through the city’s Connect and Engage platform, enables city staff to implement our strategic goal of engaged and collaborative governance,” said Tom Sluis, public information officer for the city. “Right now, we have requests to help with a loose plank on the swinging bridge, a pothole near 7th Street and some unsanctioned camping near East 8th Avenue.”
