Durango, CO: On Tuesday, Feb. 21, Durango City Council will consider accepting a land donation of nearly 50 acres and updating the city's Land Use Development code to provide a long-term permitting option for food trucks.
The proposed land transfer is just one of many items up for discussion at Tuesday's council meeting and study session.
Study Session:
During the council study session, council will review evidence of councilor Olivier Bosman's alleged repeated violations of the city's code of conduct. A discussion of the alleged violations will be held, and council will determine if any action is warranted. Council will also discuss ways in which it can work more productively as a governing body.
Regular Council Meeting:
During the regular council 
meeting, council will consider accepting a donation of 49.42 acres of property located north of Oxbow Preserve. The land is currently owned by Romad Investments, and the city has been in communication with the company for over a decade regarding its acquisition. Romad Investments has recently expressed interest in supporting wildlife habitat preservation, recreational opportunities, and watershed protection, which has prompted the charitable offer to the Durango community. This project aligns with the city's Comprehensive Plan and the Parks, Open Space, Trails, and Recreation Master Plan to preserve the Animas River Greenway North.
Council will also hold a public hearing to consider an easement for the La Plata Electric Association, which has requested an extension to an electrical utility line to support the new terminal expansion at the Durango-La Plata County Airport.
Additionally, a discussion will be help on text amendments to the City's Land Use Development Code that would allow for the permitting of food truck pods. Currently, the City of Durango has two options for permitting a food truck: a Temporary Use Permit, which is limited to 180 days with the potential to be renewed twice, and as an Accessory Use to another commercial or restaurant use. The proposed changes will allow for a long-term permitting option for food trucks.
