Drop off Halloween pumpkins, gourds, apples and other fruits for local farmers and ranchers to use as animal feed!
The annual pumpkin drop-off provides Durango residents with a sustainable option to leaving gourds to rot on the doorstep or throwing them in the trash.
Pumpkins and other fruit are collected and donated to local farmers for use as animal feed.
The 2019 Pumpkin Drop-off will take place on Friday, November 1st from noon - 6 PM and on Saturday, November 2nd from 9 AM - 2 PM at two locations:
La Plata County Fairgrounds (2500 Main Ave.)
Leaves will also be collected at the Fairgrounds. No walnut, cottonwood or aspen leaves please.
Eagle Park (1189 Bayfield Pkwy.)
Thank you to our 2019 partners:
300 pumpkins donated to local pig and cattle farmers and 180 bags of leaves collected for compost.
Quote from a local hog farmer who received pumpkins in 2017:
I think our little farm is well poised to grow with this... campaign at Three Springs in particular... It's a convenient location and it really helps me sustain a rare hog species in a responsible manner.
